Sunday, February 12, 2017Memorial Park at 3:00 PM. Mrs. Bryan was born February 10, 1927 in Wilkes County to G.W. "Henry" and Pearl Henderson Johnson. She was the former owner of Southern Lawn Mower & Parts Company of Winston Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Charles Bryan; four sisters, Margaret, Mildred, Alma and Lucy; and five brothers, George, Darrell, Don, Eugene and Harold. She is survived by a son, John Charles Bryan, Jr. and wife Kim of Mocksville; two grandchildren, Kelsey Nicole Bryan and John Logan Bryan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wake Forest Care at Home Hospice, 126 Executive Drive, Suite 100 Wilkesboro, NC 28697. Cass, 74, of Boylston, longtime professor died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 after an illness surrounded by his loving family.Mr. Cass was born in Winston Salem, North Carolina son of the late Henry and Marie (Burchette) Cass. He graduated from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, Boston University and did his PhD work at Northeastern University in Boston. Chris’s first several jobs were with engineering firms such as R.J. Reynolds in Winston-Salem, NC and Badger Engineering and Construction in Cambridge. He was a Sociology professor for over forty years teaching at Northeastern University for over twenty five years, Framingham State University, University of Massachusetts- Lowell and Quinsigamond College in Worcester.He leaves his wife of 53 years, Carolyn E. (Wood) Cass; two daughters, Leigh T. Matiunas and her husband, Steven of Alexandria, VA and Sarah E. Cass of Boylston; three granddaughters, Sophia, Charlotte and Paige; a brother, James Windsor Cass of Windsor Crossroads, NC and a sister, Catherine Marie Saunders of Winston-Salem, NC; a nephew, James, Jr., of High Point, NC and a niece, Cass Simon of Lyon, France.
