Monday, June 19, 2017He was born on Sept. 25, 1923 in Hunnewell to Roy Edward and Minnetta (Megaffin) Sorrell, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Hunnewell High School.In 1941, in Monroe City, he married Donna McGlothlin. Children are Linda Koch and husband Dennis of Elmwood, Kan., Garry Sorrell and wife Betty of Sedalia, and Debra Phillips of Lincoln, Neb.In 1968, in Sedalia, he married Wanda Lewis, who resides of the home. Children are Linda Williams and husband Doug of Lebanon, Michael Barber of Lebanon, Donna Hendrickson of Spearman, Texas, Lori McCullough and husband David of Sedalia, David Sorrell and wife Deann of Columbia and Scott Sorrell and wife Missy of Rolla.Al lived many years in Monroe City where he worked at a hotel before he went to work for the Henderson Produce Company where he became plant manager.While working at Henderson’s, Al was drafted into the Army. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was trained as a surgical technician and served in a medical unit for the 192nd Ordnance Battalion. He served in the South Pacific during the Second World War including the Battle of Okinawa. Al was the last surviving veteran of the company with whom he served.After the war, Al returned to his work at Henderson’s until he moved to Sedalia in 1965 where he worked for MFA, Swift and Company, and Central States Tool and Engine. Monday, September 26, 2016The incident occurred when Penelope Stansberry, 72, of Huntsville, Mo., failed to stop at the intersection of Routes J and W in Ralls County three miles east of Monroe City. Stansberry's vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Patty Fischer, 61, of Palmyra.According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Fischer's vehicle went airborne before striking Johnson's vehicle. Mary Johnson, a passenger in the vehicle driven by Herman Johnson, sustained serious injuries, as did Stansberry and Fischer.A fourth vehicle, driven by Kimberley Pool, 54, of Foley, Mo., was impacted by flying debris. The report does not indicate if Pool sustained injuries.The report indicates everyone involved was wearing safety devices. Ralls County Coroner Denise Goodwin pronounced Herman Johnson dead at 10:25 a.m. His body was taken to Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal.The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by Monroe City Ambulance, Ralls County Sheriff's Department, Monroe City Fire Department and the Marion County Ambulance District.

Marchelos said they can't access the building because of concerns about electricity in the flood. so she doesn't have an estimate of how deep the water is there.The Monroe location, however, she said is "perfectly dry," and the staff is ready to serve clients from all over the parish.
