Monday, February 20, 2017States Marine Corp Reserves. Afterwards, he returned home to join his father in the family business at Abbeville Lumber Company where he built fine homes, commercial buildings including the Bank of Erath and concrete rice bins that still stand in Abbeville and throughout the region. In 1967, he started building offshore living quarters. This vision would eventually become Abbeville Offshore Quarters which grew to have over 180 employees, a rental fleet of over 350 buildings and fabricating permanent quarters housing people offshore Israel, Nigeria, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Mexico, Trinidad and the Gulf of Mexico.He never forgot his farming roots and enjoyed aquaculture. At one time he tried importing Australian crawfish and enjoyed providing large crawfish from his two farms in Kaplan and Meaux to several local restaurants.Mr. Putnam also had a long history of community involvement. Some of his affiliations included The Abbeville Kiwanis Club, where he was named Outstanding Kiwanian in 1967. He was Senior Warden of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and sang in its choir. He was also noted for his prize-winning Camelias.Mr. Putman showed extreme determination and strength in living with Parkinson’s Disease for over 35 years, longer than anyone on record.Visitation was observed at Vincent Funeral from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday January 6, 2017, and on Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at Vincent Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Abbeville.Pallbearers were his nephews Ed Carter, Frank Liddell and Robert Liddell, along with Daniel Gaspard, Gil Meaux, Josh Newman and Ritchie Theriot.In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, P. Monday, December 12, 2016Sky, Montana, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at the Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.Born Nov. 2, 1939 in Hew Hampton, Iowa, he was the son of the late Elmer and Ina (Zierath) Hassman.Alan served in the National Guard and was a graduate of Wartburg College, in Waverly, Iowa, where he studied business and became an all-state wrestler. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.Hassman is best remembered by those who knew him as a man who lived life to its fullest. Most comfortable in jeans and well-worn cowboy boots, he was a striking man with loads of charisma. You knew when he was near by his unmistakable and unabashed laugh that could fill any room. He had a big personality and was always ready with one of his (in)famous jokes. He had incredible stamina and he believed that anything was possible through hard work.He was selfless and gave much of himself. It gave him great pleasure to be the one who could bring joy to others. Despite his many business successes with McDonald’s, Metro Bank, Dame Media, hotels and others, he maintained a child-like curiosity for the world. Monday, November 21, 2016Alec Neal and Marilyn Carol Hester Kilcrease. He married Josette Michelle Williams on July 6, 1985 in Dublin. Paul was a member of Horseshoe Bend Baptist Church, and a lifelong resident of Erath County. He was a painter.Survivors include his wife, Josette; daughters, Paula Roberts of Bluff Dale, Amber Kilcrease of Mansfield, and Tristan Kilcrease of Stephenville; grandchildren Shyli Autumn Roberts and Case Stout Roberts, sisters, Marjie Lynn Lucas and Dena Marie Felts; brothers, Jim Don Crabtree, Neal Kilcreasr, Douglas Kilcrease, Rodney Kilcrease, and John Kilcrease; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.Besides his biological parents, Alex Neal and Marilyn Carol Kilcrease, Paul was also preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Hub and Marie Thompson Kilcrease; and a sister Cathy Depontee.The Kilcrease family would like to thank the community, and his many friends who have supported them during Paul’s illness.Share this:Like this:Like Loading...
