LYNDON – Earl T. Rhodes, 71, of Lyndon, died on Tuesday morning, Jan. 17, 2017, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, surrounded by his loving family.He was born May 13, 1945, in Tipton, Iowa, the son of Lowell and Ida (Snelling) Rhodes. He married Rose Sanders on Oct. 7, 1967, in Sterling.            Earl was an Army veteran, and a lifetime member of Rock Falls Eagles Club, where he served as past conductor. He worked at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. in Sterling for 31 years, prior to his retirement in 2000. Earl loved working in his garage doing various projects, including building custom bicycles and making furniture for his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed bowling and taking occasional trips with Rose to visit family in Arkansas. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was devoted to his family. SUBLETTE – Margaret L. Bonnell, 76, of Sublette, died Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a caring, generous woman, who left an impression on everyone she met.She was born Feb. 6, 1940, in her family home on the corner of Algonquin and Penny in Barrington Township, the daughter of Edward and Freda (Meier) Krabbe. She was a cook at Mendota Hospital, Sublette Fast Stop, and Mendota Lutheran Home. She also had worked at the Sublette Post Office. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sublette, St. Anne Sodality, and Sublette 365 Committee, and was a Cub Scout den mother.Margaret married Bruce N. Bonnell on Aug. 21, 1960, in Lake Zurich. He preceded her in death on Oct. 23, 2005. Throughout her life, she was known for having both an open heart and open home, no matter the time of day. Steve (Cathy) Cacciatore, Jerry (Amy) Cacciatore, Marianna Cacciatore, and Theresa (Pat) Petrillo. Ray and Jo have seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two on the way. Ray was born in Rockford, Illinois. He was a Sargent with the US Army Air Corps, serving in Europe during WW 2 as an Aircraft Mechanic, working tirelessly to keep our combat planes in good condition. After the war, he became a Mechanical Engineer in the machine-tool industry—a role he maintained for his entire career. For the final 10 years of his working life, he had his own business as a machine-tool designer. In his retirement, Ray and Jo moved to Tucson, AZ. Golf was his lifelong sport and, for many years, they lived at Tucson National Golf Resort, giving him the opportunity to play to his hearts content. He also enjoyed oil painting and gardening. There will be a funeral Mass to honor his life on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N. Shannon Road, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Tu Nidito. The grief support program there, called Children to Children, was founded by his daughter Marianna. Tu Nidito’s address is 3922 N. Mountain Ave., Tucson, AZ 85719. Or a donation could be made to Casa de la Luz Hospice.
