Gary Roderick Cooper, 68, of Quinton, passed away Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Walker Baptist Medical Center.Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at Bell Funeral Home in Sumiton. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at the funeral home’s chapel, with burial at Shanghi Cemetery. The Rev. Don Stanton and the Rev. He returned as Special Agent in Charge in Georgia in 1980, and then moved back to the home where he grew up in Sumiton until his death.He was a member of the board of directors of the BATF retirees organization for many years.He was an avid golfer and a 54-year member of Brooklyn Masonic Lodge No. 704.Goodwin was the son of the late Manuel L. Goodwin Sr. and Annie Long Goodwin.He is survived by three sisters, Mary Faye Phillips of Talladega, Bobbie Segers (Glenn) of Arab and Betty Ayers of Sumiton; one brother, Charles Goodwin (Gaye) of Dora; and several nieces and nephews.Special thanks to caregivers, Barbara Gober, Joyce Meek and Carl Branch, the Cordova Health and Rehab staff, and New Beacon Hospice.As per his request, there will be no visitation or funeral services.
